Based on the concept of world-renowned sports city and the status quo of the sports development in Shanghai, the paper discusses the opportunity and challenge of building Shanghai into a world-famous sports city. It analyses the gaps between Shanghai and some world-famous sports cities and puts forward some strategic measures for turning Shanghai into a world-renowned sports city.
